Blog is short for weblog which is another word for journal, which most music sites just call news.
Whatever you call it, the concept is the same:
- log in to your site from any computer
- write some current happenings with you personally or your band
- it'll be automatically put on your site with that day's date
- ... and a list of your previous entries below it
